Have you ever came across moments where you want to display a particular Modules or Component to Guest users only and hide it from Logged in Users?
This was a nightmare in Joomla 1.5 and we had to rely on 3rd party modules. But with Joomla 2.5 and ACL, it is very easy. Many people miss this Guest features of Joomla 2.5 and above.

Now lets get down to Business. Fire up your Joomla 2.5 admin panel and then Navigate to Users > Groups > Add New Group. Create a new group and name it whatever you want,in our case we call it Guest. Set the Group Parent to Public.

New User Group

Next navigate to Users > Access Levels > Add New Access Level. Create a new access level, Guest and designate it to the Guest Group Access Level. Save it.

Access Level

Next is navigate to Users > User Manager and Click on Options on the top right Corner. You will have a popup window. In the Component tab, Change the Guest User Group to your just created User Group Name, in our case it is Guest. Save it.

User Manager

Now we have created our Guest Access Level.

If you want a Particular Module to be visible only for Guest Users, then set the Access option to Guest(the user group that you created). Similarly, use it for Menu items, Components etc..

Feel free to contact us if you have any problems.
